Another beverage that falls somewhere between a non-alcoholic beer and a malta soda. Its somewhat like Almaza or Fayrouz. Its got the sour hops flavor of beer or non-alcoholic beer, but there's more barley malt flavor to this than a light beer, which makes it more interesting than just a plain non-alcoholic beer.
Apparently non-alcoholic malted beverages are quite popular in the Middle East. I found this bottle at an Egyptian grocery. Still, its hard to understand why any non-drinker would choose this drink over other sodas or fruit juices. But its not a bad drink. It has a dry flavor, not very sweet, if perhaps that is the attraction as opposed to an overly sweet soda pop.
Its not thick or heavy tasting, just a thin flavor and sour with hops, but its that bit of malted barley that gives this drink some intrigue.
